Demel off after 60 odd mins.
Surely it's now time for Jenkinson to start. Having a player in the team who can't last 90 mins, and isn't as good as the fella on the bench, doesn't make much sense to me.

Jenkinson looked good when he came on. He starts for me next week.

What is the matter with him?

He's pretty good for the first half-hour, then fades badly.

He is 46 yrs old so he does pretty well for an old boy!

Jenko to start next tho!

Probably the one thing Sam got right. Jenkinson would have been ran ragged if he started. Bringing him on after 60 minutes meant he could be an attacking threat.

Demel isn't a world beater but is solid and Jenkinson has some pace and creativity. Our fullbacks are really good the only defender who is a weak link is Tomkins. If we could get a Lescott in for him we would be legit across the back.

Short term management, Demel will be even worse next season, and the Gooner will be off.

He's alright Demel, good feet, solid, but simply isn't up to 90 mins from an athletic point of view. As has been said, he does really well for a 46 year old. I'd expect Jenkinson to start. Do we have a purchase option with his loan?

The right back position has been a problem for us since Lucas Neill left. Whoever is our manager next season, I'm sure, will sort it.

I think that position is working well, I wouldn't fix that!

I fully expect Jenko to be a regualr starter as from now. He didn't come here to play second fiddle to old man Demel.

I know burnley wouldn't welcome it but if they're adrift in January, we should put a bid in for trippier

Its all about opinions and many, perhaps most, will disagree but I think Reid's lack of commitment is affecting his performances. Its thin margins at this level but since he returned from injury last season and perhaps got it into his mind that he needs to play for a bigger club or deserves 70 thousand plus a week, the edge has gone from his game a little. He is the poorest passer of the ball at the back too. Tomkins has weaknesses of course but is now the better all round footballer and team player IMHO. Also, he just seems to be in a constant sulk these days and not enjoying his football?

The club will need to start thinking about getting in a class act at CB by end of season and hopefully that planning / analysis is now underway.

Again only my opinion but I suspect Reid will get a move to another club and the money he wants but ultimately may come to regret it longer term because he is, for me, a Ryan Shawcross type of player not a Cahill or Rio or dare I say Terry type CB and if he goes to somewhere like Everton, Spuds or L'Arse he could well find himself on the bench.

It could be that Demel has raised his game now that Jenkinson is giving him competition. That's a good thing in my book.

I like demel but it is a waste of a sub every week if he's unable to play ninety minutes

It's nothing to do with Demel not being able to last. Allardyce just sees Jenkinson as the potential 1st choice and is easing him in.

Pretty obvious to me.

Re: Demel off after 60 odd mins.
Demel is a better defender IMO and Jenkinson was brought on as the game had opened up. Im not sure Jenkinson can halt a leaky ship for 90 mins so im happy for it to continue as is for now. Demel is not shabby at going forward on his day also

I have to say Reid is beginning to get on my tits. His casual less than committed performances so far don't deserve automatic selection. BRING BACK GINGE!
